If I'm Being Honest

Raising babies is no easy task!  Today I am teaming up with The Honest Company to share an honest look into what the days are truly like. Days filled with love and smiles and exhaustion and second guessing and coffee.! My experience as a new mom has been all of these and so much more!

From the moment I found out I was pregnant with our son Colton, every single aspect of life changed for my husband & I. There are so many decisions to make surrounding bringing a new life into this world. There are also a world of opinions out there that can make a new parent feel that they just have to do it one way, as if one size fits all for parenting. There are opinions on the best choices in regards to feeding, diapering, choosing the best products to use, ideas on how to raise your little one. The list never ends! But I am here to share that through my personal experience, there is not one single answer that is right for all. I truly believe that every parent does the best they can for their family and my hope is that instead of judging others, that we uplift one another. Like I said before, raising babies is no easy task. And that is why I love The Honest Company. They support a judgment-free, best-for-baby approach to parenting and their line of products does everything to support your decisions, no matter what road you take!

One of the biggest decisions for me when I had Colton surrounded feeding him. For us, breastfeeding is what worked for our family. I was fortunate that he seemed to agree with that choice. Within twenty minutes after his birth, he latched on his own and nursed easily. Within those first few weeks, although he took to it like a champ, I on the other hand was immersed into the immense amounts of discomfort that come along with nursing an infant, coupled with the demands that I faced as he wanted to feed around the clock. One of the best pieces of advice I got before having my baby was from my doctor. She told me to have a plan, but to keep it flexible. That advice has served me well in everything from my delivery day to everyday choices I face as a parent! I know what I want in my dream scenario. I have had a plan for everything from delivery to feeding to ideas on how I plan to continue raising this little boy. But I also know that babies are unpredictable. And when things don't go just as I had hoped, flexibility is what enables my husband and I to make the most out of the moment! My personal experience with breastfeeding has been filled with ups and downs. Moments of sitting up all hours of the night, rocking and feeding our sleepy baby while breathing through the intense contraction pains you feel in those beginning stages of nursing. Moments of planning our days around making sure there is a always a place to stop and feed. Moments of bonding that take place while feeding our sweet boy that will forever stay in my heart. But what matters most to me through all of this is that Colton is coming up on his 4 month mark and he is one incredibly happy & healthy baby boy! And whether we achieved that through breastfeeding or bottle feeding, that truly does not matter.

So whatever your story is, if you are doing the best that you can for your little one, take comfort in knowing that that is enough!

Mama's Little Shopping Buddy

Happy Tuesday Everybody!

I don't know about you, but at our home, Tuesdays are for Target. Between their Starbucks shop and their dollar section...that is all a Mama needs for a quick pick-me-up!

Now toting a little one into a store is never an easy task. And it is literally mission impossible to safely fit an infant seat in the cart, plus groceries. But today we gave our Shopping Cart Hammock from Binxy Baby a little test run and it was a life-saver!

Colton LOVED being able to look around while we shopped and he made not one peep during our hour and a half long stroll down every.single.aisle ;)
Plus since the hammock is elevated in the cart, there was plenty of room left for all of our groceries and items to fit underneath it!

The hammock comes with two clips that fasten to either side of the shopping cart and they hold up to 50 pounds. Plus, they are reinforced with velcro straps for extra safety. There is also a seatbelt for the baby to wear as well as a carseat security strap that can be used if you decide to place the entire infant seat right inside of the hammock! They have been featured in places from BabyCenter to Parent's Magazine and they have quickly become one of my favorite items for my little man! Learn more about their extensive safety certifications & tests here!

We lovelovelove our hammock and we want you to give it a try too! Follow this link to snag yours for 10% off!
Thanks so much for stopping by and we hope you love this item just as much as we do!

Thankful Heart

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I SO enjoyed a whole week full of food, family, friends & a little retail therapy with these boys :)

This Thanksgiving was Baby Colton's first big Holiday celebration and it was such a great day. We spent the morning hours on the couch in our PJ's watching the Macy's Day Parade. Then we joined all of our family for dinner and then stopped off to visit even more family for dessert!

Growing up, it was always tradition that Santa would make a surprise visit to our home after we finished Thanksgiving dinner. It's always been our family's way of officially kicking off the Holiday Season and it was so fun to share that tradition with Colton this year. He LOVED meeting Santa (with a little help from Grandpa that is ;) & it made for such a special day!

We spent the rest of our holiday break catching up with friends! My husband's best friend and his sweet Bride-to-Be were in visiting from Texas and we were so thankful to sneak in a little wine night with them. One of my closest friends and her Hubby-to-Be were also in town from Florida and it was so great getting to celebrate them as they are newly engaged!

The hubby went back to work this week and I spent Cyber Monday getting a little online Christmas shopping done! In case you are still on the hunt for some great deals for yourself or for those on your Christmas Shopping list, check out some of my favorite items for the season below:

New arrivals are in at Texas Two Boutique & these items are all under $40! Coupon code Amanda15 at checkout with take 15% off your entire order plus they offer free shipping within the US :)

If you have any new parents or tiny babes on your list this season, be sure to check out this collection of multi-use covers that can be used to cover carseats, shopping cart handles & as a nursing shield! We LOVE ours from Covered Goods AND they have just released some brand new prints!

We wish you all a great rest of your week!

Happy Two Months

Hey All, Happy Fall!

This past month has been so busy for us. For some reason being home with a little one makes me feel like the days just fly by. And all I wanna do is freeze time! But here's my little replay from this past month :)

Our little sweetness turned Two Months Old on the 17th and he is growing like CRAZY! He is rolling over, full of smiles and loves doing tummy time! He is such a go-with-the-flow kinda baby and we have been loving just taking him everywhere and creating so many new memories. His little personality is really starting to show and I am just can't get enough of being his Mama!

Especially with the holiday season creeping up on us, I just can't wait for all of the fun ahead with this little man. I am huge on holidays and I am so excited for all the new traditions we get to start as a little family! The hubby and I took Baby Colt to a nearby Pumpkin Patch and we are going to be dressing him up for his very first Halloween on Monday!

Last weekend, we got to celebrate his Baptism. It was such a special day and the weather was so beautiful! All of our family came to join us and we were so thankful to have a full day with all of our loved ones!

I also recently joined a Mom's Group at a local church & the baby and I absolutely LOVE it! It has been such a blessing to us and a great way to be able to meet other Mamas in our area. They are all just the sweetest group of women! We feel so fortunate to have met them all and to be able to bond over Mommyhood!
And speaking of Mommyhood, I am IN LOVE with these tops below! They are both new items in for Fall at two of my favorite online boutiques. The links to shop both of these tops were shared in my previous Fashion Vlogs along with a little discount code to snag yours for 15% off ;)

Well we are off to start our Saturday! Thanks for stopping by and we wish you and your little babes all a very Happy Halloween Weekend!

Gownie Giveaway

Where are all my expecting Mamas at!? This post is just for you!

For anyone who has followed my Blog throughout my pregnancy, you may recall my monthly bumpdates. Around month 8 of my pregnancy, my biggest To-Do was packing my hospital bags. As a first time mom, I wanted to be fully prepared for my stay on the Maternity Ward! I took advice from a few Bloggers who had some great recommendations on things to pack and I of course printed the all inclusive Hospital Bag Checklist from The Bump! Perhaps one of the best pieces of advice I got before heading in to deliver my baby however came from my Mom. My mom has delivered 7 babies, so I took her advice without question! She warned me that this was by no means going to be a glamorous experience, but she made me promise to take something to the hospital that would make me feel a little less like the mess I was about to be ;) Whether it be a robe, a cute pair of pj's, just a little something special for me!
Now I know it may sound silly to be concerned with what you look like, after all you're going to be giving birth! But let me tell you, when you are in labor and then staying on the Mother Baby floor, you have an audience for EVERYTHING! That's right ladies! If you have not taken this road before, get ready, because your delivery room may be just like mine and include a doctor, a couple of student doctors, a team of about 6 nurses standing by and whoever else happens to walk through the door. Truly, that room just might be packed. And after delivery when all your visitors come in and the pictures start snapping, you will not want to be in that puke stained gown they toss at you upon arrival. Not to mention, hospital gowns aren't that comfy. I cannot tell you how thankful I was to have a little somethin' on hand that made me feel a little more presentable during my stay!

I came across this line of products by Baby Be Mine Maternity and let me tell you, they sell it all! From delivery gowns to matching Mommy & Me newborn attire...their entire line is created to make the mama look and feel the best she possibly can. Not only is their clothing cute, but it is all about the comfort too! Their gowns and lounge wear are easy to wear for breastfeeding moms as well, so you can even plan to wear these outfits after you head home! I purchased the Nicole Print Maternity Nightgown along with the matching Baby Receiving Gown & Hat & I love being able to match my sweet boy!

I am collaborating with them this week to offer one lucky Mama-to-Be the chance to win a FREE Delivery Gownie! In order to qualify for this Giveaway:

Our Birth Story

Oh my goodness, where to even begin! Our baby boy is finally here & we could not be more grateful. He is just over a week old now & my heart is overflowing!

The weeks & days in the beginning of August leading up to his birth were full of so much anticipation. I was tired and feeling like I was growing by the day. It was impossible to get comfortable and I was SO ready to meet this little guy. My doctor had confirmed that all was healthy and promised me that the baby would arrive just as soon as he was ready. That gave me so much peace, however I still had all these fears surrounding labor and delivery. Fears that I would go into labor while my hubby was at work or that I wouldn't know quite the right time to go to the hospital. I was scared to death at the thought of getting IV's and going through the entire labor process. I was scared I wouldn't be able to do it. There are just so many things that race through your mind leading up to delivery day. I have never prayed so hard in my life as I did in those days and weeks leading up to the birth and that is just about the only thing that got me through.

Then it happened. At midnight on the morning of the 17th, I woke up with contractions. I had been getting pretty strong Braxton Hicks contractions the entire 8th & 9th month of my pregnancy though, but I just had this strong gut feeling that this was the real deal. I decided to just watch tv on the couch so that my husband could sleep. Since sleeping through the night at 9 months pregnant is pretty much out the window, I had grown pretty accustomed to staying up all night and watching Real Housewives just to pass the time!
But as I sat there on the couch that morning, I noticed the contractions were happening every ten minutes on the dot, and they were getting increasingly more uncomfortable. By 3 AM, I couldn't even look at the tv because they were so strong. They quickly moved from being ten minutes apart to being five minutes apart and they were lasting about a minute each time. At this point I started just walking the house because sitting and laying down was out of the question. My sweet dog and kitties must have known something was up because they would not leave my side! I'm not sure exactly if I woke my husband or if he woke up on his own at this point, but I looked at him and told him I was gonna call the doctor. After speaking with the doctor on the phone, he thought it was a good idea for us to head to the hospital. It was about 4:30AM, so we packed our bags into the car and off we went. I had 3 contractions just in the 15 minutes it took to get to the hospital. We pulled right up to the delivery wing and they took us up to the delivery floor. The entire process of being checked in was truly a blur. Nurses and my doctor were in and out. There were about 150 questions they ask you during the check in process that you have to answer while experiencing the most intense pain ever. All I wanted to do was just fall into a deep sleep and have everyone leave me alone at that point. But the pain. Oh the pain. The contractions felt as if my body was splitting into two. My doctor said that I was still just in early labor and not yet very progressed. I coulda punched him right then and there! Now I LOVE my group of doctors but when you are in that much pain, "not very progressed" is the last thing you wanna hear! He gave us two options. Either go home and come back later. Or start Pitocin to get things moving. There was NO way I was leaving that hospital in that condition, so I chose option number two! By 7:30AM, they had administered the Pitocin and my contractions got even more intense. By 9:30AM, I was able to get an Epidural. It was heaven sent! Once the Epidural kicked in, it was all smooth sailing. My husband and I spent that afternoon just talking and watching a little Fixer Upper on HGTV and switching it back and forth to the Olympics. It was as if nothing was happening and I was feeling great!
At 4:16PM, our sweet boy entered the world.
Life changed for us the second he was born and I could not imagine anything better.
His name is Colton Thomas <3

We are incredibly thankful for this blessing and are soaking up every single moment with our little man. We are so appreciative of all the support we have received & we can't wait to continue to share our journey as parents!

Covered Goods Nursing Cover Giveaway

As a first time mama, I spend a lot of time researching all things baby as there are just so many decisions to make surrounding bringing a new life into the world! Deciding what products to use, deciphering the necessities, stocking the nursery and doing my best to be prepared for the little man's arrival. Finding items that fit these categories AND that are cost friendly is all I could ever ask for! Recently I came across an item that appealed to me in so many ways...allow me to introduce you to the all too convenient, four-in-one product that is as useful as it is chic for moms with little ones!

This product by Covered Goods serves as a nursing cover, carseat cover, shopping cart cover and as an infinity scarf. Developed and crafted in Los Angeles, this item was created by a mother of four and her story is one I can so relate to! She shared that while searching for a nursing cover, she struggled to find one that would cover her enough to feel confident using it anywhere while out on the go. She used her experience to develop a product that can be used in multiple ways all while keeping it functional. Talk about getting the most out of your purchases!! It is stretchy, breathable, lightweight & easy to slip on/off without the hassle of straps or snaps. The various prints & colors it comes in make it fun for mamas who wanna add a little style to motherhood, and they are constantly coming out with new prints!

Check out the adorable colors and prints below and browse even more here! My favorite cover is the classic black & ivory stripes :)

Now it is your chance to enter to win one of these covers by Covered Goods! Whether you have a little one of your own or you are searching for a gift to give to an expecting mom in your life, you are eligible to enter!

Modvern Vintage Boutique Collab

This week I am teaming up with Modern Vintage Boutique to share my obsession with their line of clothing and accessories & let me just say I am soo happy to be doing a Blogger Collaboration with them! I discovered this online boutique a few years ago on Pinterest and I seriously have ordered from them almost monthly ever since, so doing this post is a dream come true! They have some of the CUTEST items and once I figured out some of my pre-pregnancy clothes from them are still working with my bump, I have been telling all my preggo friends to check them out.
***Check them out on Instagram & Facebook!

This blue maxi is a dress I got from them earlier this year, but unfortunately I wasn't able to find it on their website so it may be sold out!? I got it in size Medium and it is fitted at the very top and then has a flowier fit from the bust down, so it is one of my comfiest dresses as this point! Plus I was excited to get to wear it for my 29 Week Bumpdate last week :)

This white off the shoulder lace dress is one I got from them just last month and I ordered it in a size Small. I wore it on Memorial Day and since it fits really loosely, I was in heaven! Let's be honest, pants are just not even close to comfortable at this point, so I am all about dresses! I paired it with their turquoise drop necklace & favorite Lane boots! My sweet pup Lulu was happy to jump in on the fun too!

Here is another white lace dress I got from them last month as well, also in a size Small.
Can you tell I love lace!?
I lovelovelove belle sleeves and it's fancy back. It's super light and airy to wear so it looks frilly but feels comfy! They sell it in mint and black colors as well!

This maxi is another one I fell in love with and ordered earlier this year, but when I checked online I think it is sold out. The back has a really fun cutout and then the entire dress just fits loosely and is not too clingy, so it works great in hot weather! I got this one in a size Medium & I was able to throw a jean jacket over it this past Spring to wear it to work and now I wear it everywhere from the pool to running errands to date night!

This one is their mint colored off the should top and it pairs perfectly with shorts or skinny jeans. I got it in size Small because it looked like it was pretty flowy and when it came in, the size worked great. I often pair it with this necklace & earring set I got from them pictured below.

I snagged this chevron maxi dress for our gender reveal party this past spring in a size Medium because I loved how the blue and pink colors coordinated with the theme of our party ;) It is stretchy and the fabric is light so it continues to be a regular wardrobe staple for me!

This striped tank from them is a size medium and it fits just like a maternity top!

Now I know it is too hot outside at this point to be thinking about fringe boots, but these are my favorite pair for fall and since they will be back in stock soon on their website, I needed to share! Plus these boots take me back to when I first found out I was pregnant ;)
